Exercise No 1
Copy the following sentences and using the preterite tense write the correct form of the verb in brackets. Then translate each sentence into English. Post your answers into the message box below if you would like to receive corrections and/or suggestions.
Eg. a. La semana pasada yo (leer) un libro muy bueno.
Ans. La semana pasada yo leí un libro muy bueno.
Last week I read a really good book.
b. Ayer yo (comprar) palomitas y me gasté todos mis ahorros.
c. La semana pasada mi amiga (comer) paella.
d. Mis amigos y yo (tener) una fiesta para celebrar mi cumpleaños.
e. Cuando (ir) a la piscina? Ayer no te vi.
f. Mis vacaciones (ser) increíbles.
g. Ayer mis amigos y yo no (hacer) nada.
h. Anteayer fui en metro al centro y (ver) una obra de teatro.

Look at the list of phrases and decide if the verbs are in the present or the preterite tense. Then translate each verb into English and then each sentence into English.
Eg. a. Tomo el desayuno a las diez.
Ans. Present, tomo = I have, take – I have breakfast at 10 o’clock.
b. Fuimos al museo antes de comer.
c. Hace mucho sol aquí.
d. Mi amigo decidió comprar unos recuerdos.
e. Practiqué natación en el polideportivo cerca de mi casa.
f. Nunca hago mis deberes.
g. Observé a la gente en el restaurante.
h. En el colegio comemos a las doce y media.
i. Anoche mis amigos fueron al cine.
j. Silviía jugó al fútbol el sábado.
