Some tips before you start!
Listen out for the phrase 'desde hace' which is a good way to say how long something has been going on.
Tengo gripe desde hace una semana.
I've had the flu for a week.
NB: You use 'desde hace' with the present tense, not the perfect tense like we do in English.
He tenido gripe desde hace una semana
Tengo gripe desde hace una semana.
'Desde' by itself means 'since'.
'Desde ayer' = 'since yesterday'.
